Initiate Screen Prevails vinyl version out now on Sacred Tapes

The follow up EP to Yes Blythe’s Debut album ‘Keep The Faith’ first saw the light of day as a short run cassette release on the Gnod tape imprint Tesla Tapes. ‘Initiate Screen Prevails’ is finally being given a vinyl release on Sacred Tapes. Not only the first Vinyl release for the label, kicking off an offshoot SAC-R series, but also a first vinyl release for the artist.

This 30 minute EP ranges from subtle layered field recordings to intense crushing noise created with depth and detail. The record comes packaged with printed fabric insert and risograph’d recycled card info sheet.

[5SS007] Yes Blythe Mix

A new mix for the 5SS mix series by Slip Discs. These guys are one of the best labels in Manchester at the minute putting out some truly amazing and boundary pushing stuff so it was a pleasure to be asked to include a mix for them.

SAC#003: River Slaughter - Infallible Godhead

River Slaughter is a collaboration with Tombed Visions main man David McLean who also plays in a number of other musical groups as well as being heavily involved in the manchester improv scene. Infallible Godhead is the first release for the pair of us under this name. Expect more percussive driven cassette samples and atmospheric synths. Featured in the Boomkat end of year charts.

SAC#004: Swaggerjack - Side A/B

Swaggerjack is a collaboration with John Powell Jones, an illustrator and member of psych band Horrid. Swaggerjack is pure free improv noise using guitar, cassette tapes, contact mice and pedals to capture and manipulate sounds

"Yes Blythe, is Callum Higgins, the head & body behind Baptists & Bootleggers, Sacred Tapes, River Slaughter and countless other projects. He has made a big impression at Gnod HQ with his relentless work rate , off the wall concepts and soldering skills. 
Following his debut album, Keep The Faith, earlier in the year, Yes Blythe returns with Initiate Screen Prevails, a two track EP. Both tracks are an attempt to capture the raw energy of recent live outings but with a more thorough, carefully constructed approach. Building layer upon layer Travels Nerves To Freedom is an onslaught of run out grooves, twisted to their limit into a grumbling mass with subtle changes guiding it along. At Labyrinth Borne-Sun sees the return of the field recordings and subtle melodies that have defined previous work by Yes Blythe. 
This really is a perfect autumn/winter release ,one for early mornings/late nights by a fire. 
Following suit of the hand packaged nature of his earlier releases, Initiate Screen Prevails comes housed in a recycled card sleeve with a fabric insert."
